Prayers for the Utah Miners

  • Aug. 12th, 2007 at 9:29 AM
I was discouraged to hear that on Saturday, the trapped Utah miners could not be heard when a microphone was lowered down where they are presumed to be located. I have not stopped hoping for some sort of miracle. I have been praying for their save recovery.

Which College Now??

  • Jul. 28th, 2007 at 2:18 PM
Well I think it is official, my daughter is going to be a professional college student, majoring in staying in college until she is 40! She informed me the other day that she intends to continue on with her studies and become an Anesthesiologist. What??!!!! She works a 40 hour a week job and she has been taking classes since 2001, just trying to get that 4 year degree. She is only a couple classes away from that and now she informs that she isn't going to major in Business Management? She says all she needs are more biology, physics, chemistry and some other course and she will be able to start a residency. She has been doing college searches on line in an effort to find a college that is offering the courses she needs. In my idle time at work today, I managed to stumble across the website Anycollege.com. Their resources include search tools, scholarship drawings, college information request forms, information on featured colleges and universities, and other resources for students, parents, and counselors.
I am going to be sure to tell her to register for the Anycollege.com Scholorships that they give away to site vistors several times a year. Once she finds a university or two that may offer the education experience she is looking for, she can then use their college information request form to get more detailed information and guide her decision.
I never dreamed she would want anything to do with the medical field, so we shall see how long this vision of the future lasts.

Writers Block Question of the Day

  • Jul. 28th, 2007 at 2:07 PM
If you won $100.00 today, what would you do with it?

Well, $100.00 is not gonna get me the things I really want, so... I think I would just save it for my next mini vacations to the beach or who knows where and spend it then. I should probably save it... but for what? When you get to be my age you realize that there isn't a whole heck of a lot of time left to squander away a measly $100.00 and wait for it to make you rich. I will be long gone before that! Might as well have some fun now!,

Pearl Jewelry

  • Jul. 26th, 2007 at 2:27 PM
I have always like pearl jewelry. I own a few inexpensive pieces that I wear to church or other events. Pearls are traditionally classy items of jewelry but the classic white pearl can be worn for almost any occasion. I think they look great paired with jeans and a knit sweater. I've recently had my eye on an Akoya Pearl Necklace from nationalpearl.com. There is a beautiful floating pearl necklace that I want to purchase. It holds 15 classic white Akoya pearls on a 14-Karat yellow gold chain. When you purchase Akoya pearl necklaces you get AAA-quality Akoya pearls, measuring 7-7.5mm in diameter, high luster and a smooth surface quality consistent with AAA quality standards. The pearls with the rose overtones are my favorite and also their best seller. Nationalpearl.com has a great selection of these
Akoya pearl necklaces to choose from. They also have the famous black pearls too.
The best thing is that Akoya Pearls are guaranteed to appraise for at least 4 times the purchase price!

A Great Day at the Beach!

  • Jul. 26th, 2007 at 2:12 PM
Saturday I packed up my cooler, sand chair, towels, beach bag, snacks, visor and umbrella and headed for the beach. It only takes me about 2 hours to get to Myrtle Beach from my home. I had nothing better to do, that didn't involve spending a lot of cash, so my cheapest bet was to head to the beach for a day of relaxation, basking in the summer sun. I stopped at the Local Dunkin Donuts on 17 and got a fresh cup of their coffee and their famous coffee roll, which is like a cinnamon bun. Since cinnamon is suppose to curb your appetite I chose this for my breakfast. The bun is huge and is delicious! Once I am ready to lay out, I have a favorite location I like to go to that is a secret. But let's just say I can park on the pavement and bask on the lawn of one of the nicest hotels on the strand and outside of enjoying their pools, I am privy to their bathrooms, tables and lawn chairs, umbrellas, and convenience shop located there all at no cost to me. What else could I possibly need for a comfortable day at the beach. Well a man maybe, but.... anyway, it turned out to be a beautiful day for sunning, catching up on some reading, man watching and just enjoying all the scenery. I would have loved to have stayed the night but money is kinda tight right now. I will definitely be going back! I have found another detour that gets me out of all the traffic and provides me with some great stores to pick up items I may need along the way too!

The Glass Tiles are back in Style!!

  • Jul. 26th, 2007 at 1:16 PM
My parents house is about 48 years old. The house was brand new when they moved in it. The bathroom walls are tiled half way from the floor up with glass tiles. I guess if you never remodel you house then one day it will be in style again. This is the case with them. I have noticed that lots of people decorating their new homes or remodeling them, have started choosing the glass tiles that were so popular 48 years ago when my parents chose them for their wall decor. Of course, they come in more vibrant colors now and also more sizes to choose from.
The glasstilestore.com has a wide selection of glass tile in various sizes to chose from. So if you are planning to decorate or remodel your space, then check them out for great selections from decorating your kitchen and bathroom walls to placing in your new pool area! Most of these glass tiles come in a translucent finish, which means the color is painted on the back of the tile so it will not scratch or chip the color off. You save almost half off the regular price when you buy them on line from the glasstilestore.com.

Where there is a will, there is a way......

  • Jul. 26th, 2007 at 11:38 AM
PATERSON, N.J. (AP) — Daisy Valdivia is annoyed that someone stole her backyard pool — and baffled at how they did it without leaving behind a splash, drip or trace of the 1,000 gallons of water it contained.

(Now that's pretty impressive!)

Valdivia awoke to find her family's hip-high, inflatable, 10-foot diameter swimming pool gone from her backyard Wednesday.

Valdivia told The Record of Bergen County the theft must have occurred between 1 a.m., when her husband went to bed, and 5 a.m., when she awoke.

She's amazed someone could steal the pool that quickly and just wanted to know "what the heck they did with the water," she said.

Fitness Dating Website!

  • Jul. 20th, 2007 at 2:59 PM
I'm still perusing the on line dating sites in search of my match. There have been a few prospects but I still haven't ran across that one person who I feel I could have that chemistry with. I am getting ready to join a new site I came across last night. This dating site is centered around fitness singles who are looking for someone fit and health conscious like themselves. I think this is a great idea, since most of the men my age on the other dating sites tend to have that huge beer gut that I just cannot get past. Well, at least most of the ones that are contacting me. Sigh......
Fitness Dating sounds like a great idea if you like to stay active and are looking for a partner who likes to stay active also. I know I am not the most fit person in the world, but with a fitness partner to encourage me, who knows what could happen! Registration is free and only takes a few minutes. While checking out the site last night, I decided that being physically fit must really increase your sex drive too.
Check out the site and you'll see what I mean!

Zaxby's Coming to the Burg?

  • Jul. 14th, 2007 at 12:37 PM
One of our Pharmacists here at the hospital has informed me that her husbands' friends have decided to buy a Zaxby's Franchise and put it in Laurinburg. They have already purchased a Jersey Mike's in Fayetteville and now are in the process of getting a Zaxby's going in the 'burg. Apparently. this will be a long drawn out process, that should take over a year or so according to my source, but it is definitely coming! I have eaten at Zaxby's before so I am ready. They actually serve some pretty good salads that are fresher than the ones from other fast food joints. The lunch around this town sucks pretty badly. If they can't get anything new, then they ought to at least build another McDonald's. It takes forever to get food from there at lunch or even in the evening hours around 6 or 7pm.
I saw a sign up by the old (now closed) Winn-Dixie building that "Little Fugi" was coming soon. I hope that this will be a Japanese fast food place like the one's in Fayetteville. They definitely could use some Japanese to mix in with all the chinese restaurants that already exist around this town.
Valarie told me she saw someone working on the old Wendy's building yesterday.
I wonder what will go there?????

Storage Cabinets for your Garage

  • Jul. 14th, 2007 at 12:12 PM
If you are thinking of installing cabinets in your garage to make it more presentable and hide all your junk, then you should check out the different types of storage cabinets that carguygarage.com has to offer. If you're just looking for something economical to store things or you want something that looks really classy in your garage like I do, then I think you should check them out. They have stainless steel, metal, aluminum and diamond platestorage cabinets. You can order a few pieces or a whole set designed to fit your garage space. These cabinets come assembled and ready for your garage. I think I am going with the aluminum cabinets.

Pam Cakes

  • Jul. 13th, 2007 at 3:45 PM
Pam, a co-worker and friend makes delicious cakes. These cakes are also nicely decorated by her. Every time someone here at the office has a birthday, she is the cake baker. I am glad someone doesn't have a birthday around here every day, because I would be so fat! Her icing smells so good, and it is totally addictive I think! The funny thing is, I work in the pharmacy and there is this pill called "Benicar" that smells just like her icing. I asked the pharmacist was it a sugar pill because it smelled just like a "Pam Cake". He said yes!! Okay...Now I have figured it out! Pam crushes up Benicar in her cakes to make them addictive so she can eventually quit work and sell those cakes to all her addicts??? (Like Me) HHMMMMMM????
A cake made by Pam is not a cake made with Pam at all!

July 4th Vacation

Good News!

  • Jul. 3rd, 2007 at 10:49 PM
I went to the post office after work today and there was a letter from the IRS. Finally! I had been waiting to hear back from them regarding the income my ex didn't report on our joint 2003 tax forms. I had filled out an innocent spouse form because I didn't know he didn't report the income and I wrote them a letter also. Today they sent me a letter granting relief for me! I was thrilled. The letter stated that my ex could appeal the decision. In which case I would be able to respond, but if he didn't appeal, I would receive a formal letter within 90 days granting my relief from the debt he owes. I hope he doesn't appeal. He is so mean and devious that he just might. He doesn't want me to have anything. I wasn't aware that he didn't report that income and he knows it. I am keeping my fingers crossed that he owns up to what he did and doesn't try to hold me responsible for his stupidity.

Birds & Bees PC Style

  • Jun. 26th, 2007 at 2:42 PM
This is too cute!!!!
A little boy goes to his father and asks
Daddy, how was I born?" The father
answers: "Well son, I guess one day
you will need to find out anyway! Your
Mom and I first got together in a chat
room on Yahoo. Then I set up a date
via e-mail with your Mom and we met
at a cyber-cafe. We sneaked into a
secluded room, where your mother
agreed to a download from my hard
drive. As soon as I was ready to upload,
we discovered that neither one of us had
used a firewall, and since it was too late
to hit the delete button, nine months later
a little Pop-Up appeared that said:

> > You got Male!

Happy Father's Day

  • Jun. 17th, 2007 at 12:02 PM
Happy Father's Day to all the "deserving" dads today. I consider my father, who is 82 years young to be one of the most deserving. He has always been there for me and has sacrificed many times in order to provide for his family. I have never seen him drink or smoke. He might have said 5 small cuss words around me through out my lifetime. We have always gotten along great and I know that he is a real saint, who wants only the best for his girls. He has never hurt my feelings by saying unkind words and he always listens without judging and criticizing. I wish I had the money to pay him back for all his sacrifices to me.
He deserves to be paid back and if I cannot do it on this earth, I know that he will get his reward in heaven. Love You Dad!!!

Drug Rehab

  • Jun. 12th, 2007 at 4:28 PM
It seems that a lot of the young teen celebs are dying to be thin, no matter what the cost. Take Lindsey Lohan for instance, she was a little overweight and then all of a sudden she's thin as a rail. Next thing you know she gets in a car wreck and low and behold she's got some cocaine in her purse. Fortunately, there are drug detox places out there offering help for these addictions that so many people face today. One of the most interesting Drug Rehab Centers is Stone Hawk.
Stone Hawk credits itself as the most successful drug treatment program in the country, with a history of an astounding 76%+ success rate. That means you leave clean and stay clean.

The Stone Hawk program is an alternative to traditional 12-step programs.
To start the drug rehab program at Stone Hawk every student goes through a full medical physical and receives permission from a M.D. in order to begin the addiction treatment program. Stonehawk believes that health and fitness is an important factor in maintaining a drug -free life, throughout the program health and fitness is emphasized.

The Stone Hawk treatment program does not use drugs to treat drugs or substitute one addiction for another, the Stone Hawk approach is drug-free. Their sauna detox program at Stone Hawk lessens the body’s cravings, helps manage withdrawal symptoms, and clears the student’s head in order to best take advantage of the life skills courses.

Stone Hawk is a Michigan drug rehab treatment program, the treatment center is located in Battle Creek Michigan, and offers water frontage on St. Mary's Lake.

If you or a loved one need help with an addiction please make a toll free call to 1-888-227-9193. Local Telephone: 269-963-2827. It's never too late to take your life back!
